Draw Material

 

Apply material to a small part of a floor, wall, countertop or roof.  

 

For example:

 

  • Paint part of a bedroom wall

  • Tile a bathroom floor

  • Wood panel the bottom of a wall

Draw Material

To cover part of a wall, floor, roof or countertop (not furniture).

 

  1. Choose Build> Draw Material.

  2. Click-and-drag to draw material.

  3. Drop textures from Directory onto the material.

Edit Material

The bitmap images you apply to a material and other surfaces can be moved, scaled, rotated and hidden by right-clicking the material to get the menu on right.

 

Also change reflectivity by right-clicking the material and choosing "Properties."

Select Material

Single-click materials to select them - or right-click it and choose Select Object


Resize Material

In 3D mode, select material and drag blue handles. Size is shown as you drag.


Delete Material

Select the material and press the delete or backspace key. Or right-click a material and choose Delete from the pop-up menu.


Move Material

Click-and-drag on the material to slide it over the surface to a different position.

 

When you drag horizontally or vertically, the material will be constrained to that direction. Drag at an angle to position it freely or hold down the shift key to move the material and its handles freely.

 

The material may not be moved off the slab it is on.


Reflections

Right-click material and choose "Properties" to set reflectivity. Also see Build> Draw Mirror.

 

If you don't see reflections, press the M key to turn them on and off. A green dot next to the M on the menu bar indicates reflections is on.


Duplicate Material

Duplicate a material by holding in the Q key and dragging it.

Create evenly-spaced rows of materials by choosing "Duplicate" from the Edit menu after you peel off a copy with Q key held down. Also see Edit> Duplicate.


Paint and Materials

Drag any paint , colors or materials from the Directory onto materials you draw. See Paint and Color and Materials and Textures for more information.


Reshape Material

Make materials round, triangular, diamond and other shapes. Reshape materials by dragging the yellow handles.  Add additional yellow handles by Ctrl-clicking material edges with the mouse. Delete yellow handles by Ctrl-clicking them.

 

Hold down the shift key to move handles freely without snap to.


Oval Material

Right-click material or handles and choose "Make Covering into Oval Shape" from the pop-up menu.

Note: Adjust a material's size while it's a rectangle before converting to an oval.

Round Edge

Right-click top blue handle of material and choose "Make Edge Rounded." After the handle turns light-blue drag it upward to make an arch.
