Draw Dormer

Dormers are drawn on roofs or roof segments created with Build>Draw Roof or Build>Construct Roof (custom):

 

  1. Choose Build>Draw Dormer and click-and-drag on roof.

  2. Add a roof to the dormer using Build>Draw Roof.

  3. Ctrl-click top of dormer front wall and raise handle to roof peak.

  4. Add a window to dormer front using Build>Draw Window (custom

Dormer Size and Position

Dormer holes are edited the same way as other holes except that dormer walls are adjusted as you edit them.  Select the roof, click the brown hole in center of dormer hole, edit blue handles in the dormer hole.


Edit a Dormer

Individual dormer walls may be edited within its confines. See Build> Draw Walls.

 

To edit the size of the dormer hole:

 

  1. Select Roof

  2. Click brown handle in center of dormer hole so you see other hole handles.

  3. Adjust handles to size and shape you want.


Delete Dormer

Click roof, click brown handle in center of dormer - press the delete key.


Move Dormer

Click-and-drag the brown handle in the center of the dormer after you select roof.


Hide Dormer

Right-click various parts of the dormer and choose Hide.

 

When you hide roofs with the Hide> Roofs menu or by pressing the R key, dormers will also be hidden. See View>Show All for ways to un-hide dormers.


Lock Dormer

To lock a dormer so you can't accidentally change it, right-click a roof and choose "Lock." Locking the roof locks the dormer. Unlock the roof and dormer in the same way.


Dormer Windows

You may drag in windows from the Directory or draw a window on the dormer walls using Build> Draw Window (custom).


Dormer Roofs

After you draw a dormer you can add virtually any roof type to it using either Build> Draw Roof or Build> Construct Roof (custom).
