Resize Hole

In 3D or elevation modes, select the hole and drag the blue handles. Size will be shown as you resize it. In blueprint mode you can resize rectangular hole width only.

Delete Hole

Move Hole

Select the wall or the hole and drag the center handle or hole edge.

When you drag horizontally or vertically, the hole will be constrained to that direction. If you drag at an angle you may position the hole freely.

Duplicate a Hole

Reshape Hole

Reshape holes by first selecting them then dragging the yellow handles.

Add additional yellow handles by holding in the Ctrl key and clicking hole edges with the mouse. Also delete yellow handles by Ctrl-clicking them. In this way you can make holes shaped like triangles, diamonds, hearts, etc.

Hint: Set hole size while it's a rectangle before converting to oval.

Arched Hole

Right-click top blue handle of hole and choose "Make Edge Rounded." Handle will turn light-blue - drag it upward to make an arch.

Convert Hole to Door or Window

Right-click the hole center handle or edges and choose "Show Door" or "Show Window."

These are very generic doors and windows. Consider getting more detailed doors and windows from the Directory.

Casing and Framing

You may add case molding around wall openings to give them a finished framed look using Build> Draw Molding.

To do this:

  1. Draw your hole.

  2. Choose Build> Draw Molding and draw a rectangular molding around the opening first. Molding will link if you draw near the end of other molding - sort of like walls link.

  3. If you don't like the rectangular molding you can right-click it and choose "Set Dimension" or choose a molding shape from the Molding category in the Directory and drag it onto the molding you drew to replace the original rectangular shape.

  4. Adjust molding to fit and scale it as desired. Apply wood finishes or paint the molding.
